There are many Muslim people who are religious and want that a religious message in the names of their children as well. Choosing a Muslim baby name is a daunting task and one has to be very careful while choosing Muslim baby names. Parents should know that the name will be used throughout the life of their child and so should be such which could be pronounced loud. The name will identify and characterize your child for entire life so it should be good and meaningful. The name should be unique as it would be used to call your baby among thousands of people in school and universities.

You should always keep few things in mind before naming your child. Muslim baby names should never be “Allah” as this would not give your child the identity which he needs. You can include “Allah” as larger part of the name. The best practice is to name your child after prophets as this would show that both the parents and child are devoted towards “Allah.”

You should also make sure that the Muslim baby name is not just fancy but also has a good meaning. You should remember that only because a name is sounding good you must not assign that name. Muslim baby names should symbolize something and you should also consider that others will call your baby with this name and so it should mean good to them. Further, the Muslim baby name should be such that it gives a feel of your child when someone hears the name.

You should also remember that the name of your baby should mean something special to you. The Muslim baby names should be such that it makes you happy and always brings a smile on your face. The name should not only be good but also be meaningful. You should also remember that your baby will hold a special place in your life so you should always think a special name.

The Muslim baby names should also have honor. You can name the baby after the name of some ancestor which keeps a special place in your life. This way you’ll honor the name and you’ll also be pleased in using the name again and again in your life. If you are not sure of the name or the meaning of the name of your child then you must visit a nearby mosque. People in mosque will tell you the exact name which you should give to your baby.

Further, when the baby is yet to come you can think of some name in advance and then you have ample time to discuss with your friends and family members. Therefore, you should keep two names ready both for a boy and a girl. The Muslim baby names can also be consulted with religious leaders as they can help you decide a name easily. Choosing a Muslim baby name is not difficult but it needs time to think and consider all the factors carefully.

Not long ago, one of the top trends for baby names here in the States was to give Irish names, both for boys and girls. Irish names were a big development in the US,particularly for boys. It’s only been since the 90s that names such as Aidan and Declan have been common amongst American children. One of the reasons might be that the name Sean became mainstream in the 1980’s. Parents are now reaching even farther to find Irish names that are unique in the United States.

But beyond Irish influence, American names come from a whole slew of cultural sources. Among these are: English, Egyptian, Czechoslovakian, Gaelic, French, Italian, and Hebrew. America has always been a melting pot of people of different ethnic backgrounds. As such a person’s name here doesn’t necessarily tie to a particular ethnicity; Indians give their children English names, Italian children are given Irish names like “Sean”. And of course popular names are strongly influenced by the popular media- by celebrities and businessmen. Dylan rose as a popular name in the 70s, almost assuredly because of the influence of Bob Dylan the decade before. Here are a few popular or emerging baby names, their meaning or definition, and their ethnic origin:

Baby Boy Names

CHUMA- wealthy; egyptian

What if you want to give your boy or girl an environmentally-sound name? Perhaps there’s some inspiration you can draw from some famous historical figures for this. For baby boys, think Henry David Thoreau. In this case, Henry David would be all that’s needed to make the name recognizable. There’s also Aldo Leopold, the author of the ecological classic, A Sand County Almanac. Aldo was an American ecologistand is considered a pioneer in environmental ethics and wilderness preservation. Another name that comes to mind is David Brower, an environmentalist activist who founded Friends of the Earth, the League of Conservation Voters, and other environmental organizations. For baby girls, one of the most famous environmentalists of all time was Rachel Carson. An American biologist, conservationist, and nature writer, Carson is helped increase environmental awareness around the world with her book, Silent Spring. The work spurred the banning of the pesticide DDT in the United States and helped spark the modern environmental movement. Also Carson makes a beautiful middle name. Another idea is Jane Goodall, a famous primatologist.

Here are a few more baby boy and baby girl names to consider (along with their meanings)

I never heard about Aztec Baby Names, Do You? And after I browse again in my baby names database here, I do not found baby names with Aztec origins. This is really unique baby names for your baby. I got this idea from Emma which have written an interesting article about Aztec baby names below:

Aztec Baby Names
By Emma Gibson

The ancient Aztec Indians ruled the jungles of South America for many generations. They built a large empire and relied heavily on their spiritual and religious beliefs. Thus, Aztec baby names are filled with an awe inspiring sense of personal belonging to the world and all that is created. Names derived from the simplest grain of sand to the might of the universe can be seen in every Aztec baby name you find.

Their strong tradition as warriors is present in all names, both male and female. Also the use of everyday objects that they saw as being strong, such as types of trees, mountains, and even rivers can be seen. Names for fertility and health can be popular for female children, showing a reverence to earth and the growing of foods for harvest. Life giving properties that all humans need to survive. Animal names are common for males. Taking the name of the Jaguar, for example, gives the boy strength and speed, along with the ability to hunt and track in the jungle like no other.

Aztec baby names also represent different aspects of their gods and the roles those gods were believed to fill. Although naming an Aztec baby with the name of a god was never done outright for fear of angering the god and bringing bad luck or even death, not only to the child but also the child’s parents.

Aztec baby names such as Tupac, for a boy, which means Warrior/Messenger, or Atl for either boy or girl, which means water, show the diversity in these names. Female baby names usually show a connection with earth, many having names of flowers to show the beauty they see in their daughters. Names like Xochitl, meaning flower, or Nenetl, meaning doll, can be seen to show an affinity with things of beauty and playfulness. But not all Aztec baby names for females are nice and pretty. There are some that have a strong meaning, such as Eztli meaning blood, that can be seen in both male and female Aztec baby names.

The internet provides some good websites that list some Aztec baby names for you to peruse. Two of these are www.babynology.com and www.babynames.com. Both of these sites offer separate lists of Aztec names as well as their meanings.

What ever name you give to your child, an Aztec baby name should be taken as seriously as the Aztecs themselves would have taken in giving these names to their own children. These names hold a mystique of power that vibrates to the core of the child who is presented with it.

The Social Security Administration’s Office has already published the top 100 baby girl names for 2007. Judging by the results, it would seem that people are very fond of biblical names, seeing as to how a large number of top ranking names in the top 100 baby girl names have biblical origins. However, the biblical names are not as dominant in the baby girl lists as it is in the baby boy names list.

As opposed to the boys name list, the first spot in the top 100 baby girl names isn’t biblical in origin. Ranked 1st, Emma is of French origin and the biblical theme doesn’t show itself until the 4th spot, which is occupied by Isabella, a Hebrew name that means “Devoted to God”. Next is the name Ava, which means Iniquity, followed by the still bible-themed Abigail, which means “The Father’s Joy”. The 8th and 9th places still have biblical overtones, seeing as to how Hannah is a Hebrew name that means Gracious, while Samantha, the 9th top name, is Aramaic for “Listener”. ”.

Based on the results of the top 100 baby girl names from the previous years, it would seem that girl names are bound to follow trends with boy names, but at a much slower pace. Seeing as to how boys name’s are currently dominated by biblical names, it is no wonder that these types of names are starting to gain good spots at the top 100 baby girl names, and shows no sign of slowing down.

My hubby and me are expecting a baby boy in a couple of months’ time, and we still haven’t decided on a name. I wanted to give him a unique baby boy name but we’re still stumped since the ones we came up with are all negatively unique. The name CutieBear may seem amusing and cute as a unique baby boy name when he’s a baby, but as soon as he grows up and starts mingling with the JOHNs and the JAKEs and the MARKs, his name will be interpreted as shorthand for “Take my lunch money and stuff me inside the locker and if you’re not pressed for time, punch me a couple of times before closing the door.” At best, they’ll interpret his unique baby boy name as a subtle way of saying that his parents are dorks with no foresight.

My hubby is of little help, since his idea of unique baby boy names is to think of things associated with men, and try to come up with the most ridiculous related thing, so if it were up to him, my son will have to be named WolfSmasher or Awesome Beer Pirate Jr., which are both unique baby boy names, but also seem to imply that we’re a family of crazies.

I think we’re just going to with Jhon, which is kind of unique because the H is in the wrong place. Either that or our baby is going to have gender-altering surgery when he gets born.

Similar to the trend in baby boy names, the 2006 and 2007 results of the US census for baby girl names seem to imply that people like names that have origins relating to the bible, baby girl names seem to be less biblical inspired than baby boy names, but the dominance of biblical themes are still present.

The top spot in the most popular baby girl names is not biblical, though, seeing as to how Emily’s etymology is French in origin. Emma and Madison, occupying the 2nd and 3rd spot respectively, are both baby girl names with Hungarian and English basis. The biblical theme starts to show itself at the fourth spot, occupied by Isabella, which means, “Devoted to God” in Hebrew.

The fifth and sixth most popular baby girl names are Ava and Abigail, which are again, biblically themed with meanings such as “Iniquity” and “The Father’s Joy”. The theme continues with the 8th and 9th baby girl names, Hannah and Samantha. Hannah means Gracious and merciful, while Samantha is Aramaic for “Listener”. Number 15 is Sarah, meaning “Princess” or “Lady”, followed by Chloe, which meant “Green Herb” in the bible.

While biblical themes are not as dominant with the most popular baby girl names as it is with its male counterpart, the results are still substantially enough to assume a trend in naming baby girls based on the bible, with the nearest possible trend being the popularity of female names with English origin.
