Baby Names and Meanings

Celebrity Baby Names

Whether it’s a singer or an actor, their baby does receive a lot of “pre-birth” attention. The media and fans are already cooing over the unborn babies and bring up lots of questions about the color of the nursery, designer who will get the privilege of designing the first baby suit, the hospital, the mother’s diet, people looking after her and the list goes on. However, the aspect which receives the most aspect is the name! This is probably why celebrities are so good enough to give their kids some of the weirdest and most bizarre names!

The famous musician David Bowie and his supermodel wife named their son Duncan Zowie Heywood Jones; Zowie might not be the most “fun” middle name to have. On the other hand no child would like to be named after the daughter of musicians Erykah Badu and Tracy Curry; daughter was named Puma. Another famous musical couple, Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis named their sons Denim Cole and Diezel Ky. An out of the ordinary name was give to the son born to Nicholas Cage and Alice Kim: Kal-el which happens to be Superman’s birth name! Cher named her daughter Chastity and her son Elijah Blue; how cool is that! Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had a daughter named Suri while Richard Gere named his son Homer James Jigme. The all-time most bizarre names were given by Bob Geldof and Paula Yates to their three daughters: Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom and Little Pixie! How interesting….

Would you name your child Super Man, Bat Man or Iron Man? Well Penn Jillette and Emily Jillette named their daughter Moxie CrimeFighter. Milla Jovovich and Paul Anderson picked the name “Ever Gabo” for their little female bundle of joy. Abstract nouns were quite popular with John Cougar Mellencamp and his wife Vicky Granuccie who named one of their daughters Justice. John has been known to give some interesting names to his sons too, Hud and Spec Wildhorse.

Chef Jamie Oliver and model Jools Oliver named their daughters in a flowery and coo-ing manner: Poppy Honey and Daisy Boo. Gwyneth Paltrow kept her daughter and son’s names simple and sweet, Apple and Moses. Ving Rhames was another actor who obviously loved abstract nouns for names because he named his son Freedom and his daughter Reignbeau.

Director Robert Rodriguez was obviously intrigued by the letter “R” when he named his boys Rocket Valentin, Racer Maximilliano, Rebel Antonio, Rogue and his daughter Rhiannon. If you think that’s weird what would you think of the name “Audio Science” which was given to the son of Shannyn Sossamon or even Sylvester Stallone’s little girl Sage Moonblood. Stallone was obviously in love with roses too since another three of his daughters happen to be Sophia Rose, Sistine Rose and Scarlet; he loves “S” too!

Interesting names associated with the weather are those of Musician Robert Van Winkle who named his little girls Dusti Raine and Keelee Breeze. Roger Taylor was more onto the “wilderness” side when he named his son Rufus Tiger and his daughters Tiger Lily and Lola Daisy. The next best set of bizarre names has to be those of Frank Zappa’s kids: Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan, Moon Unit and Diva Muffin!

If you are worried about giving your child a strange name, all the above names might have given you some consolation.
